General Information
Since 1979, Dennis Black has been dedicated to building his practice as a trial lawyer, following a two-year appointment serving as briefing attorney to the Honorable William M. Steger, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas. He maintains board certification with the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury Trial Law.
Mr. Black has extensive experience in handling a wide variety of complex litigation matters, demonstrating expertise in the courtroom as well as the ability to manage complex multi-party litigation. He serves the firm's clients as both trial and coordinating local counsel. He has taken over 100 cases to verdict in jury trials in state and federal court. He has successfully represented individuals, corporations, business owners, and premises owners in a wide variety of personal injury and wrongful death matters.
Mr. Black offers a hands-on philosophy tailored to meet clients' specific needs and, therefore, enjoys many long-term client relationships. Personal Activities
Dennis Black grew up in Tyler, Texas and met his wife, Pam, while they attended John Tyler High School. He then continued his education at Tyler Junior College and then Baylor University. He attended Baylor University School of Law, graduating second in his class with cum laude honors in 1979. Mr. Black worked as a briefing attorney for the Honorable William M. Steger, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division from 1979 until 1981. He was hired by Ramey & Flock, P.C. in 1981 and became a shareholder in 1985. In 2002, after over 20 years with Ramey & Flock, P.C., Mr. Black started his own law firm. He formed Black & Skaggs, P.C. with Jeramy "Jamy" Skaggs in 2007. Dennis & Pam Black make their home in Whitehouse, Texas and have raised three children: Camille, Travis, and Maci. Dennis and Pam have two grand children. Dennis enjoys serving in his church, Flint Baptist, and also enjoys lifting weights, working on cars, and spending time with his family.
